when they first made an appearance in our yard years ago, we were all in awe of witnessing the “beauty of nature” up close. But over the years, we’ve grown to despise their presence. they eat up all our flowers and plants and leave us little “presents” (aka deer poop) everywhere.
So now, whenever they’re in our yard, you’ll rarely hear us say “aaawwwww”. It’s more like a groan.
it has been a while since we got out to the park to walk around the lake. I’m hoping to get back to a regular routine because my beer belly is starting to show again. just a little, mind you… but I can tell…

Had to partake in some more comfort food today.

Today’s pick was: the local mongolian grill.
Yes, my need for comfort is apparently insatiable these days.
Work is just overwhelming at times. Upper management continues to just pile it on and simply spouts out the ubiquitous phrase “do more with less!” gah. Yeah, I’m thankful I still have a job but come on, there’s only so much I can give. ugh. my head hurts. could be from the stress. or from all the MSG in the food. who knows.
I don’t know how other parents do it. I’m absolutely burned out chauffeuring the kids around to their activities every other day. Soccer practice, orchestra rehearsals, swimming lessons, playdates, sleepovers, birthday parties, choir practice… it’s endless, I tell ya. And I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad if these destinations were close by. But, no. driving back and forth across town takes its toll. ugh. Thank God, the spring soccer season is ALMOST over. The DAD needs a break!!

It was time once again for our annual trip to the beach. The kids had a blast, of course.

And I wish we had more time to spend there but alas, our family schedule (along with our budget) only allowed this limited time in “paradise”. Anyway, here are some photos from our beach trip. enjoy.

Enjoyed a nice stroll around the lake this morning before it got too hot to do anything outside.
…Well, it was already 85 degrees by the time we made it to the lake. plus the humidity! blech. I was sweating in a matter of minutes.
at least it’s better than walking under the 99 degree sun like it’s going to be this afternoon. right?

the wife just about had it with kids this past week. So in order to give her some much needed alone time, I took the kids out to the park. Actually, it was pretty much a no-brainer since it was sunny and temps reached into the 60s this past weekend. Definitely a nice change of pace after the long stretch of winter weather here in the area.

Since the kids were bored with the usual play areas in our vicinity we decided to make a trek across town. We hit one in Morrisville on saturday and did a different park in Cary on sunday (yes, the wife needed sunday afternooon to herself as well).

enjoyed a company outing to the local ballpark. can’t complain about free hot dogs, hamburgers and a great view of the game. the weather held out nicely too. It had been raining most of the week but luckily it all cleared up by the time we got to the ballpark.
