well, apparently Netflix is currently shipping out Wii Streaming Discs to a select number of lucky subscribers. Here’s the announcement on the Netflix blog:

I suppose they’re only sending out a limited number of discs at this time in order not to inundate their servers but still – I’m a bit bummed that I’m not part of the first batch of people. harumph. even my buddy Perpetual Girl is getting one this weekend! no fair!! keep me posted PG!

Reeeeally? Lucky me! I’ve been watching streamed movies since Friday. Very convenient. Hopefully they’ll be expanding the selections soon. Since we have it streaming thru the wireless airport we just need to upgrade to a faster one. Currently the show stops now and then to retrieve. Not too inconvenient considering what we had before, which was basically nothing. The kids get to watch more variety of things too, and we don’t “waste” a DVD in the mail with a kiddie movie. It’s kind of like having TV without commercials! :) I am wondering if they’ll be adding a feature to do searches on the Wii instead of having to go onto your account…Anyway, a quick update. Maybe I should do a posting….

so jealous. :) thanks for the update. how’s the video quality. I know it’s not in HD but is it like standard def or simply like watching youtube on your TV.

still no word on when I’ll be getting mine. :(

The quality so far is consistently better than youtube. Very good quality I’ll have to say. Now and then it does get a little bit mappy but it hasn’t happened with every movie I’ve watched. I’m thinking that happens because of our “sloooow” airport. I’ve noticed that so far it automatically shows the movie in movie box format, not the TV screen size. Which is nice. :) …I’m wondering if they’ll be sending out customer review questions so we can let Netflix know how our experience is going and suggestions. So far I’ve only had one question when I watched the very first movie, and that was in regards of the quality of the picture.

O, a little correction on the search feature I mentioned earlier. You can search for movies while on the Wii. I would like to see a feature to do more specific search, like by title. Right now they have it set up by genre. So you have to sort of scroll thru a list.

Maybe you’ll get yours this week?? I’ve not heard any one else (that I know who has netflix) mention this. It’d be nice to have someone to bounce thoughts and experience off of. Hopefully you’ll get yours real soon.
