grass jelly, anyone?

Since Chickie, Shirley and Kim knew all about Pocky, I’m curious to see if they’ve tried this item that I recently spotted at my local korean grocer:
grass jelly drink
It’s COCONUT flavored Grass Jelly Drink!

…umm, grass jelly??? what in the world is that and why have a coconut flavored version? is it any good?

and NO, I didn’t purchase one to try. at least not yet anyway…

i loooove grass jelly! the canned ones are ok but definitely not as good as the ones on the street in taiwan or the home-made ones my mom used to make.

it’s basically a sweet drink, w/ these little pieces of black jelly for texture. have you ever had bubble tea but w/ the ‘jelly’ instead of the bubbles? the jelly is kinda like that, but softer and not really chewy.

i’ve tried many differed canned ones. i’ve found the ‘chin chin’ brand to be the most to my liking. but only the honey flavor. i’ve had coconut and banana too, but they tasted more like flavored drinks. and a strawberry grass jelly i had once was more like thick strawberry bubble tea w/ plain jelly – not good.

haha, I knew I could count on you Shirley! :)

I guess I should “get out” more, huh? thanks for the info!! still the “grass jelly” name makes me laugh.

Yes! Yum! And like Shirley said, not as chewy as the bubble tea stuff. And they mash easier. The honey flavored one tastes more natural than the others.

Haven’t seen this and I couldn’t try it. A drink with texture? Not for me.

But I bet my Mom would love it. :)
